The 4th Vietnam Footwear International Summit will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from March 21st to 22nd, 2019. The summit is held once a year and is a paid closed-door high-end summit jointly organized by LEFASO (Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Luggage Association) and Shanghai Xiwei Investment Management Co., Ltd.
According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, the total export value of footwear in Vietnam reached US$14.6 billion in 2017, up 12.3% year-on-year, ranking second in the world after China. At the same time, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP) have brought tremendous opportunities for the development of the Vietnamese footwear industry, enabling Vietnamese shoe-making enterprises to reduce input costs. Get technology more easily, increase productivity, and maintain market share in the US, EU and Japan.
However, under the influence of trade protectionism, rising labor costs, the rise of emerging countries and the impact of industry 4.0, the Vietnamese footwear industry has also ushered in new challenges and development opportunities. From the government to the industry associations, the Vietnamese footwear industry realized that the low-cost strategy is not sustainable. How to accelerate the investment in advanced technology through national favorable policies, promote industrial upgrading, and enhance its sustainable development capability have become the most important issues in the development of the Vietnamese footwear industry.
The summit aims to share the development opportunities and industrial upgrading of the Vietnamese footwear industry under the new trade environment through the practice sharing of authoritative government organizations, industry associations, international footwear companies, manufacturing companies and footwear retail brands. The industry's advanced manufacturing technology, procurement supply chain management and Vietnamese labor management help the participants to better understand the development of the Vietnamese footwear industry and identify business opportunities.
